Disney World Checklist for Family FunIf you have never been to Disney before, you won’t regret it. There are thousands of things to do and attractions to see. It’s easy to get caught up in the small details (like the street corner barber shop quartets and impromptu parades), so we have put together a list of the must-see activities while you’re in the area.
Stay in a vacation home in Orlando, Florida rather than a park hotel. You’ll have a better experience when you factor in the space, privacy and affordability.
On the Kilimanjaro Safari, you can step into Africa for a bit. This safari is best experienced in the morning when the animals are most active.
Stick around the Magic Kingdom in evening for the fireworks display. It goes on every night, but it’s not a small show by any means.
Make sure to visit some classic attractions like the Carousel of Progress (Magic Kingdom). There’s usually no line, it makes for a great lesson, and you can use it to sit down for a bit in the air conditioning. The same goes for It’s a Small World.
There are countless restaurants throughout the park. Rather than juggle reservations and menus while you’re trying to have a good time, use the Disney website to plan out your meals before you ever leave home. That way you’ll eat at the best places without worry about getting in.
There’s a reason the Toy Story Midway Mania has such a long line – it’s a ton of fun! Take a ride while you play an interactive video game. Pick up some FastPasses for this so you don’t wait the two or more hours.
Soarin’ in Epcot will give you a new perspective of the world. You’ll be lifted up in moving seats while you watch an IMAX film.
Disney is largely considered a kids’ place, but they have a few thrilling rides. Ride Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom and the Rock’n Roller Coaster in MGM Studios.
A trip to Disney isn’t complete without a visit with your host – Mickey Mouse! Stop by his house for a picture and autograph.
Kids love The Boneyard in Animal Kingdom. They can slide down giant slides and dig for dinosaur bones!
Find all the talking drinking fountains around Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Be warned! Once your find one, your kids will make you stop at every one you pass.
Book a character meal so your kids can interact one-on-one with their favorite characters. The food is great and it’s a relaxing experience.
Spaceship Earth is an incredible Epcot attraction that’s worth riding a few times. It’s a slow-moving ride that tracks the world’s technological advancements.
Skip the busiest part of the day. Many people enter the park in the morning and stay until late afternoon. If you’re staying nearby in hotel or your vacation rental in Orlando, Florida, you can arrive early for the park, leave during the hottest and busiest hours of the day, and come back later when it’s slower and cooler.
Sit in the amphitheater at MGM for the Fantasmic! show that includes lights, fireworks, and a laser show on a waterfall. The show blends story lines from popular Disney shows.
Walk the World Showcase and experience a sampling of food, drink and culture from all the world.
Watch Cinderella’s Castle change into a rainbow of colors while they play When You Wish Upon a Star.
At MGM, visit the Magic of Disney Animation and learn how your favorite movies are made. This is a great experience for anyone with interests in a film or animation career.
Ask the pilot or attendant on your monorail if you can sit in the front for a spectacular view of the parks and surrounding property
