Tips for Going on a Road Trip to Florida
Road trips are a great way to travel because you get to save money while getting a beautiful view of the country and can stop at several tourist attractions along the way. Another great thing about road trips is you don’t have to worry about a car rental once you get to your destination and you get to have privacy while you travel. Here are some tips for making the most of your road trip to Florida.
Get your car checked
Nothing will ruin your road trip like finding out you have car problems in the middle of the trip. Get your car inspected at least a week before so you leave enough time to get any problems fixed before you leave.
Plan your route
It’s not a great idea to head out on the road without having somewhat of a plan in place. You will get tired, especially if you’re the only one driving so plan to drive about 8 hours each day and take enough stops as you need to rest so you don’t get bleary eyed on the road.
Buy a gas card
Going on a road trip means you can guarantee one thing: you’ll be spending A LOT on gas. That’s why it’s worth getting a gas card which will rack up points you can use towards free fuel, discounted snacks, and even cash back on hotels.
When you’re on the road for long hours, you and your passengers are bound to get bored of staring out the window so bring some games or DVDs to help pass the time. It’s fun to also make up games you can play with billboards or license plates so the driver can be included in the fun.
You will most likely be using your phone a lot on the trip (to take pictures and use GPS) so make sure to bring a charger with you so it can always be fully juiced up and ready to go.
No road trip is completely without plenty of snacks! If you want to make good time then you will try to make as few stops as possible. Bringing along your own snacks will help curb hunger cravings and save you money.
